Cessna152Towser and a Victoria Kilt Night
As many of you have heard Alex will be coming to Victoria on the 19th of Aug. to visit with Bobbie and I and to visit with his relatives who live on Vancouver Island.
We will attempt to host a Kilt Night for Alex to let him experience the BC Kilties first hand.
On Friday evening starting shortly after I close the Kilt Shop there will be a back yard cook-out/get-together. Chicken and Beef kababs will be on the grill, cold and warm beer available and Bobbie has even offered to open her Scotch vault to allow attendees to drool.
We'll then go find a suitable venue where we can enjoy some music and further libations.
Big Mikey and Raphael will be carpooling over from the mainland.
Macman and Anna have confirmed their wish to join us.
And other members who would like to have an opportunity to meet Alex are welcome to join us.
PM or email me for the address of the house.
Anyone want to bring some Nanaimo Bars for Alex to experience?
If any others

OK, I have to ask. What are Nanaimo bars? Steve, you never offered them to me when I was there.

I'm sure you will all enjoy meeting Alex. I wish Vancouver was a bit closer this sounds like it will be a great time.

Another version of the legend of the origin of the Nanaimo Bar is that the recipe was submitted as an entry to a contest held by BC Ferries for a quick, no-bake dessert to be served on the ferries that run between the City of Nanaimo and Horseshoe Bay just north of Vancouver.
In the 1950's the ferries had limited cooking facilities and needed something that was easy to make.
It was so popular that all the ferries began to carry it.
And BEEDEE, I'm sorry we never offered you a Nanaimo Bar during your visit but it seems we have something wrong with the refrigerator here at the shop.
We keep putting Nanaimo Bars into it but the next time the refrigerator is opened they are gone.
I think it is akin to the phenomenon of Kilts shrinking if you hang them in a closet.
We have a team of Scientists working on the problem. At last report they we investigating worm holes and rips in the time-space continuum.

Ask Hamish, I'm willing to bet he remembers those.
I am sorry I missed the visit and the kilt night. I had really hoped to head over, but in all honesty have not been on the site much and missed the final details. I hope you had a good trip Alex and that all was well with Ann when you got home.

Well I have just arrived home today, Friday. I will be going to visit Ann later today.
A big thankyou to The Wizard of BC and Kilted Knome for putting up with me around their house for a whole week and for hosting the kilt night. It was wonderful to meet them again and to meet for the first time with BigMikey, Raphael and MacMan.
I will post a few of my Canada photos later.
