    Say It Ain't So!

In a week or so, I'll be heading to Vegas. I had planned on going to The Tilted Kilt but according to what I found on Google, it's CLOSED! Can anyone confirm or deny this horrible event. Thanks.

I also wanted to poll the members to find out if part of your trip planning includes searching out great kilt bars/pubs. If the TK is closed I did find info on some good Irish pubs in Vegas.

The best pubs I have ever been to are ones you stumble on to.

Have a good trip Mikey. We're heading down there in November.

    Colin

I have to agree but disagree.

The best pubs are the ones you just WANDER into, but stumble OUT of.

    Excellent point!

I have found in my travels that the best pubs and restaurants are found by asking locals - they always know the best, least touristy places.

    Thumbs up

It seems the TK in the Rio was replaced by another very simular chain bar called McFaddens. So you should give it a look for us!

I like to try local beers when I travel, so one thing I do is look up my destination on brewpubzone.com and see if there is a local brew pub to try out, I've had a lot of fun with that.

I've used that in the past. I also use The brewpub finder on the website All About Beer.

It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Colin has a good point! If you find em through adverts they are probably way too commercial! Cookie cutter type places that try to pretend to, be a pub.

We have what we call a pub in here G'boro Mckouls, pretty good place if I say so myself. I don't know that what we call a pub here is truly that in the real sense of the word. I think it is far more than just a wateringhole, it's really almost a communtiy center. Maybe that's changed though.

When I take a trip out of town I almost always check online to see if there is a brew pub near by. I don't really care about any other type of bar/club but I love trying local brews. The last place I discovered was American Flatbread in Burlington, VT. Awesome beer and they even had a medival beverage called gruit.

Well done that man -- think global, drink local! int:

I always look for a brewpub in my travels to sample the local brews, and to add a pint glass to my collection.
