A Quest for comfortable shoes!

Ok heres the thing, have you ever owned a pair of realy hard wearing (long lasting) work/dress shoes, that were comfortable, I mean realy comfortable?! A pair of shoes that were Kilt worthy. A pair of shoes that looked great and did not "break the Bank". A pair of shoes that on the last worn day you almost shed a tear remembering the miles that you have traveled in them. A shoe that you may have repurchased and own to this day. Finding them is my Quest, hopefully before these horrid "flip flops"ith wear out!ith:

Man, that's how I felt about my old jungle boots!

As this really is one of those opinion questions I am sure you’re going to get a wide number of options but I will go ahead and toss my two pennies in. I have always thought that Dr Marten shoes and boots are some of the most comfortable out there period end of story. In the Doc line there is quite a few that look really sharp with your kilt, from casual days when you throw on some boots down to some shoes that look good enough to wear with anything except a real formal occasion. My two favorites are the solid black Brogue and for boot the Vintage 1460. The brogues really can be dressed up very nicely, and the boots look great down to just a t-shirt with your kilt... but both unbelievably comfortable and I just recently had to throw a pair our that I had purchased my senior year of high school, that’s over 19 years ago, and yes as they were going in the trash your exact words came to pass, I stopped and just started remembering where they had been the things I had done in them, being an Army brat, then in the USAF myself the countries they had seen... really wonderful shoes.

i was gonna suggest Doc Martens too but Sanddog has beaten me to it. I sadly retired two pairs not too long ago, and just recently replaced them with a new pair of ...you guessed it Docs!

I like my Keens.* They look nice, have good sloes, and you can get them wet with no worry about damaging them. Some of them are prettier than others, but they all hold up well and feel nice on your feet.

Some of the nicest and most comfortable shoes I have worn are made by Crockett and Jones. While they are certainly not inexpensive, like all good shoes that are well treated they will last for decades. I like the longer lasts of some of their styles. They tend to be quite elegant looking and fit so comfortably.

My father taught me that a gentleman is always well-shod. It's worth every penny to get the best shoes you can, because if your feet are happy, you are happy!

I had a pair of Kenneth Cole Shoes that I bought about 5 years ago, this spring I replaced them with another pair, the shoes I've bought have what they call Silver Technology basically there is a gel inside that gives you arch support. To my mind they look great with or without a kilt, and they come in various styles. Here is the website.
