new experience
I went to the Island of Bute yesterday to attend the Highland Games the ferry to the island is quite small and it was very busy almost all the men and boys and some of the girls too were wearing the kilt !when we left the ferry it was the same the small town of Rothesay was a sea of tartan as the games field was a short distance from the ferry everyone walked that is easily the most kilts I have seen in a town at one time!the games were exellent and the ferry was crowded with kilts again some of the pipers were p
laying in the bar was rather loud in the confined space!! I felt very strange to be in the majority group rather than the oddball that I usually am this gave me a taste of what it would be like if the kilt ever became realy popular !

Thanks for sharing that experience, Tam. I should love to attend just such a Games but all I have managed is the Harpenden Gathering (several times) and THE Gathering in Edinburgh last month. Your clear description reminded me of the latter when not only the Gathering itself but the whole of Edinburgh was awash with kilts, for several days.
Take care,
Ham.
