Either jacket should work. Having said that I like the second tweed myself.

KR,
Looking at both jackets and both kilts here is my opinion.
If you are going to primarily be wearing black shoes, sporran, and belts then the first jacket is going to look a lot better with those kilts. It will also give you more range for dressing up.
If you are primarily going with brown shoes, sporran, and belts and want a more casual day wear look then I would go with the second jacket.
Personally I think the first jacket with black accessories will look sharper.
Are you going to convert them yourself or have someone like Victoria do them?
Cheers

The first one looks like one I have for one of my winter projects that I got about 4 years ago. Do not procrastinate, do the first one and make me jealous.

I'd say do the one you like the least first. That way, if you mess it up, you'll still have the other one and will have learned from your mistakes.
That's the system I'm using. I have one that's the wrong shade of green that I'm using as a learner model before I tackle my black-camel-hair-thrift-shop find.
Good luck!

I have a seamstress friend who i have sent the directions from XTMS on how to mod a jacket. It will only be the Cameron Kilt that i am getting, and most of my accesories are black, shoes, belts, hose.
So i think i will be going with the black. Once again Thank you all..
Note to self: buy or Make new hose of a maybe a nice oatmeal or Green

I like the forst one because of the greater contrast between the herringbone pattern.

My opinion, the first will look best. The black and white tweed will really pull the white out in the Cameron.. I think with the black leather it's going to play very well together.. Mind you I am no expert in fashion, and my sense of style has been questioned once or twice, but....lol I do think the first ;)
