First time out (finally)!
I finally did it. After trying once, and failing, the kilt was worn successfully at the Michigan Renfest last week!
The story: Last year I found this site and joined. I shortly afterward bought a Black Watch kilt from SWK, but ordered it too large, sent it back, and got the right size (great people at SWK!). My wife and I were going to celebrate her birthday at an Irish Pub about 8 weeks later and, not realizing the implications at the time, found the kilt still too big as I had lost about 15 pounds since the original order. I decided I would try anyway, but broke a rivet on the belt while dressing. So the kilt was put away for awhile. Then this year at the Alma festival, I bought a Pride of Scotland kilt, got the belt fixed, and finally wore it in public for the first time. It was very comfortable and I enjoyed the looks, especially from my wife! I hope to get the Black Watch taken in so I can wear it next, soon. If you picture hawks need proof, I don't know how to put them in this thread, but my profile picture was taken there!

Congratulations. Sounds like quite a road you had to travel to enjoy the comfort of the kilt.

Congrats! Now that that damn is broken we can expect more tales of the (really big voice) POWER OF THE KILT!
I am bit different, my kilt came and was worn the same night; I wear my Buzz K as I type. Just booked a wedding yesterday, they were looking for a kilted minister! So now I get to mix two things I love even more, marrying people and wearing the Kilt! Gosh I love it when a plan comes together! ith:

From experience I know you will wear it ore and more often. You need to get that SWK going because you will find that you need at least two kilts to keep them guessing. Good for you for your persistence. Kilt On!
