John D. Burgess
I came across this photo online. Besides being an outstanding piper, the late John D. Burgess had a true flair for traditional highland dress. I'm not sure if others have similar photos, but if you do, please share. I never had the opportunity to meet the gentleman, but I hope he'd appreciate that his example of highland style lives on after his passing.
Cordially,
David

Yes, red shoe laces were usually worn with evening dress, sometimes with gold tassels at the ends!

I seem to recall you were looking for a source of suitable red laces in a previous thread. Did you have any joy?
"O, why the deuce should I repine, and be an ill foreboder?
I'm twenty-three, and five feet nine, I'll go and be a sodger!

Maybe, you could dye a current pair that you have. The gold tassels are another matter.

PM Burgess was always well turned out, a good role model for those looking at how to dress well.

Gentlemen, this is how it is really done.

The look as a whole is perfect...though I can't say I am a big fan of the hose. It is a fine example of someone who totally comfortable with everything he is wearing and how he wants to wear it.
