The Boise Highland Games 2009
I have officially been in the U.S. just over a year now and it was time to attend my second ever Boise Highland Games.
The day was filled with Bagpipes, Dancing, Clan tents and great vendors but, alas, I had no time to actually get out and see the athletes. Oh well, I should be ready to compete again by next year.
Here are a few highlights.
The Boise city of Trees Pipe Band played inside a very Scottish mist. Sure, it was just the smoke from the guy grilling turkey legs but it still looked good!!!
I had fun chatting with people at the Clan Donald tent. They were kind enough to ask me to carry the flag at the official opening of the event, but I was practicing for my dance demo and, alas, could not do it.
My friend Martin who pipes for the Boise Highlanders led part of their formation and Piped really well.
I love this shot of him with the Saltire right behind him.
My dance group had a great time.
Here are a few highlights from our second performance.
Lookit that covering!!!

I got to be fancy and wear my latest Russet Lodge Kilt Hose. Here I am promenading with the knitter herself.
Brandi and Ken were just thrilled to be dancing.
And my Kilt swished pleasantly the whole dance.
Brandi did some of her Highland dancing and did a wonderful job.
The massed band played and had a grand old time.
And my good friend Shaun even managed to get out of work, get home to don his Kilt and get to the games before they closed.
He looked fantastic and after a bit of digging into his family history I even found out he is a sept of Clan Donald. Welcome to the family, Shaun!!!
Now, I didn't manage to get any pictures of Shawn (Macthenife) or his lovely family, but we did hang out and have a great time. Hopefully he'll have some pictures to share, too!
And, just as an addition, I got bored on Friday and put together my own fashion show to get pictures of some of my new accessories.
Here I am smoking a pipe in my new Argyle sweater.
And with my new walking stick and Irish linen tie.

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.
