Inaugural Scotland County Highland Games
Here's a few initial pics from the inaugural Scotland County Highland Games in Laurinburg, North Carolina
A few Xmarkers begin to gather at the Clan MacRae tent with BeeDee. He was smart enough to write down everyone's screen name and I wasn't! Stay tuned for his post which will include everyone's screen name.
Checking out a replica basket-hilt sword at the Clan MacAllister tent. The sword is a very good replica of the original which still exists and has been held by the family for many generations.

Bringing up the rear of the MacArthur contingent in the parade of clans
Meeting with Faith MacArthur at the clan tent. There was a bit of cool in the air during the morning, although it was quite warm by midday. Overall, the weather was perfect.
The kirkin' of the tartan took place as this beautiful church a few minutes out of town. It's the Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church and the congregation was founded by Highlanders in 1797. I'm not sure how old the current building is, but is very simple and very beautiful inside... made more so by an absolutely stunning solo in Gaelic during the service by Rona Wilkie...have to admit the song brought a tear... just a beautiful way to end a great weekend.

Doesn't look like it for this year, Scott. We've ended up with a pretty high-maintenance booking at the theatre that weekend. It's not impossible, but not very likely, either... but we're glad for the business.
