    Anyone got Google Wave yet?

So, uhhh... Anyone been on Santa's "Nice" list this year and manage to score access to the new Google Wave beta? I've been trying but not having very much luck. Reminds me of when Joost was invite-only and invites were as valuable as gold.

Anyway, cut to the chase here. If anyone has an invite they'd be willing to spare, I'd be thrilled as punch if I could get one. In exchange, I promise to pay it forward and share the love with as many of my other clansmen on XMTS as I can.

    Whadaya say? Pretty please? lol

I am with you there, Jock. I tried to understand what the Google website was telling me about it - and the entire thing went over my head. I am happy (I suppose) with the technology I have already. It has been the same with Podcasts ......... everyone seems to be taking about them or using them, but I am being left behind. It's all beyond me!

    Oh, well!

    Take care,
    Ham.

I only heard about it two weeks or so ago and have not really investigated it so far. I'm not sure that I need more social networking.

You can however go to http://wave.google.com
and click on the "request an invitation" link to see what happens.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Well, I've already filled out the form on the Google website, but I think they're being a bit tight-fisted about giving out more invites past the initial 100,000. I'm just hoping that with our vast network of clansmen I may be able to score one...

If you don't know what I'm talking about, just do a Google search for "Google Wave" and read the articles you find, and watch some of the demo videos. Really cool stuff.

Again, if anyone has an invite to spare, or knows of someone who does, I'm happy to share the love and hook up other XMTS clansmen!

    Cheers!

    Jim

    Exclamation Guess what?!?

A very generous clansman here on XMTS helped me out with a Wave invite some weeks ago (shortly after I posted this message). I've been playing with it and testing things out.

Today, after all that time, Google gave me some invites of my very own to give out to friends and contacts. They gave me 8 total.

I wish to reserve 3 of them for my own personal contacts, but that leaves me with 5 that I'm happy to pay forward and share with my friends here on XMTS. (Think of it as an early, geek birthday present).

Now, before I get inundated with idle invite requests, I'm going to make 3 stipulations for those who want my invites.

    In a PM to me:

#1: Briefly tell me if you think Wave could be used among XMTS clansmen to further benefit our existing community (or if at all). We already have a couple of Facebook groups, and a very active forum...

#2: Kindly agree to "pay forward" at least 1 of your own invites if and when Google gives you some to hand out to others. No, I'm not going to hold anyone to this, but just consider it a gentleman's agreement.

#3: Tell me something funny. A good joke or anecdote. I could use something to make me laugh today.

If that's OK by you, then feel free to send me a PM. I will send invites to the first 5 people who want one.

    Cheers, everyone!
