I don't hunt kilted around here, because with the kilt, it would be difficult to wear my tree stand safety harness. It has straps which fasten around each thigh, as well as around the waist and chest. I would not get in any tree stand without the harness. Most hunting accidents, at least around here involve falls from tree stands. Perhaps from a ground blind, though.

I would imagine being kilted would be a drawback when it comes time to field-dress the deer. Maybe you use a different technique than I do, but I couldn't imagine being able to do it kilted without the front apron being in the way.

I am not sure if you are aware of this or not, but white tail are prevalent through out the east. You didn't need to go to the snow line to hunt them. You may be confusing Whitetail with Elk. Just messing around. I would say post pics, but this probly isn't the best site for that.
If you ever get over to "www.hunt101.com" you can see my pics posted under the same name.

Enjoy your trip. You might want to take along a wool kilt - just in case.

We look forward to the pix. Shoot a big 'un
Missouri rifle season starts next weekend. No kilts down here. Too many briars for anything but brush pants.

Good luck. Look forward to hearing how it went, and if you can,...a few photos would be nice as well.

I had two small does walk past my tree stand late yesterday afternoon, but no budks. I think it has been too warm around here for the rut to have started. Supposed to be near 75F for the next couple of days. At least it is easier to climb up into my ladder stand without all of the insulated clothing.
