Two years plus and going strong

    http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/m...ghlight=X-Kilt

date: 8/6/2007...two years and change, in the distant past.

There's the post where I announced that I'd finally made my own X-Kilt for *Me*.

I'm wearing it today. I probably wear it once a week, certainly once every other week, year 'round. I've hiked in it, done yard work in it, worn it to work, generally worn it like I'd wear a pair of Levis. I've washed it at least ten times, no problem. I just iron the bedickens out of it after washing and then store it on two old pants hangers I've got. The pleats stay just fine, at least for a casual kilt.

Still looks good. Not bad for free fabric and 13 hours on the sewing machine.

Fear not, X-Kilt makers. Forge ahead.

You were the one that helped me make my first Xkilt. I have it somewheres. I suppose I should find it and post pictures.

    That would be delightful.

And thank you again, Alan, for setting me on the path to a closet full of self-made kilts.

I remember that and can't believe it's been that long.

    Good for you Alan!

The other evening I pulled out my downloaded instructions, being reminded of them by finding some not-half-bad PV tartans for every province and territory as well as some all-Canada ones like Maple Leaf.

Casting the runes, I remembered that pleating is a lot easier when sett/stripe considerations are moot. So. Back to looking at the right kinds of fabric for this project.

Point being: It's a valuable guide. Thanks for all the work, and for keeping at updating it when needed.

this reminds me of my intentions of making an x-kilt for me, which will most likely not be tartan, NOT be worn above my belly button, and will not be a ladies kilted skirt. I will make sure to wear it in a way to make purists cry too.

Thats a long way to go, but once I have some fabric, sewing machine, and some time all at once I'll make the kilt, and then I will take some pictures.
