From the BBC: An Amazing Tale from World War II

"When millions would have done anything to get out, one remarkable British soldier smuggled himself into Auschwitz to witness the horror so he could tell others the truth."

    Best regards

Interesting. I think I read that as the war ended, German citizens were taken to some of the camps and shown what had been happening.

I think the most chilling are some of the diary exerpts I've read.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

When I was a boy, I spent my summers at a day camp run by the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco. The secretary who worked in the front office was an Auschwitz survivor and as a high school sophomore, my world history teacher was a Dachau survivor. Both would tell of their experiences in the camps that would give you nightmares.

Eisenhower had the signal corps photographers take as many pictures as they had film, when he toured the death camps, so that no one would ever be able to say it did not happen. This is why his statue is in front of the Holocaust Museum in D.C.

It is ironic and very sad that despite his efforts there are those who will ignore truth for tirade; fact for fabrication; history for histrionics; and evil for invention.
May you find joy in the wee, ken the universe in the peculiar and capture peace in the compass of drop of dew
