    Sandals and Hose tops

I have been wearing WPG khaki Hose Tops with Flashes and sandals to some satisfaction. I wear sandals most all year round provided it is not snowing and I'm in Northern CA.

I trained in Japan and my feet really toughened up I have what the other monks called “tough feet for a foreigner”. Interesting I had weak hands they got frostbitten quite a bit, but I digress.

Thus far I have only been wearing the Khaki HTs but may find myself some inexpensive wool military diced HTs in my stocking this Christmas. I realize sandals are not everyone’s cup of tea but it is extremely helpful in my situation where I am barefoot inside the building of my community and my own place. I have it deeply ingrained not to wear shock/hose on the floor because it eats socks. Mix that with no shoes indoors another deeply ingrained notion leaves two options, take off/on socks/hose when in and outing, or get some house shoes. I don’t dig on the later.

So does anyone have experience wearing sandals with the Kilt?
And how about Hose Tops and Sandals?

I’ll drop a picture from Early in the Fall, I put the sandals on for the picture...

This pushes some of the boundaries of tradition but we are part of a living tradition and there are innovations that naturally occur. At least for me wearing the kilt is not a matter of uniform or costume but part of the living Highland tradition in this case in the Diaspora.

    Ideas?
    Photos?

    Peace,
    justin

You might try searching around for Tabi socks such as these...

    Tabi socks

    THanks for the Tabi link.

I do wear Jikka Tabi (old style Japanese boots) in the dry season. Extremely comfortable shoes and with the split toe and so require the tabi socks.

As far as sandals and socks go... if I wear full socks/hose, I prefer to wear shoes or Chukka boots, gillies on occasion.

    peace,
    justin

Are you wearing the hose tops for warmth or style? If its just for style, personally I would lose them. Nothing wrong with kilts and sandals (or bare feet). If its for warmth, that's another matter.

    Best regards,

I haved several pairs like yours. I use them to keep my calves warm when dancing as I like to have my feet in contact with the floor.

What else can you do with full hose when the toes and heels wear out?

With sandals, I am usually barefoot, though, in cold weather, I am known to wear long socks.

You could also try dancer's leg warmers. They came in all colors and textures, and are basically just a very long footless sock.

I always wear sandals but the look does nothing to me because of the hose top.

Looks a little odd with the missing sock bottom, I'd go with full socks or without socks.

I also wear jikka tabi a fair bit while training or when I'm out bowhunting. I found that my suede bottom tabi looks pretty good with a pair of hose tops.
A total side question, what training are you doing in Nippon?
