Out & About on New Year’s Eve
I have off today New Year’s Eve from both my day job and second job, so I’ve been catching up on chores. Left home kilted to check on security staffing on the day job, then went to the Fredericksburg Pub for a late lunch.
I wearing my latest kilt my Burnett’s & Struth a casual in the Malcolm modern tartan. As it was a dizzily day, my Peregrine waxed cotton jacket and Hanna walking hat fit the bill.
Kevin the barman, at the Pub set me up with Belhaven Scottish ale upon arriving. I splurged on the crusted halibut for lunch. The presentation was superb. It tasted just as good as it looked.
Had a pleasant conversation with one of the newer barman, James. He told me about his roots to the Isle of Sky and the McLeod Clan. On his cell phone e showed me a photo of Dunvegan castle which he visited this summer.
Afterwards, it was shopping at local BJ’s Warehouse and Ukrops grocery store for provisions for the New Year’s weekend. I received quite a few smiles on the kilt. It was a most pleasant afternoon.
Wishing all of you a Happy Hogmanay!

Looks like a nice way to spend the last day of the year.
Ah, I realize your image location says Dunvegan, however, that's a nice photo of Eilean Donan Castle, not Dunvegan.
This is Dunvegan.
Happy New Year to you.

Aye, many thanks for the correction. One can not stray to far from the course before your friends put you back on track!

I thought the same, when I saw it. Turned out to be a brown sauce.

Lovely pics, great to see you out and about on Hogmanay. I have been kept in all day by the snow but I really must get out on ne'erday, snow or no snow!

Ummm. Good lunch!
Why is it whenever I encounter the word "halibut" I think of John Cleese?
"I would like to buy a licence for my pet fish, Eric! He is an halibut!"
'A damned ill-conditioned sort of an ape. It had a can of ale at every pot-house on the road, and is reeling drunk. "

And why did you mention John Cleese? Just for the halibut?
Great pics, Ern. I hope you enjoyed this overcast day.
