A Matt Newsome kilt for only $5.00???
Who wants a four-yard box pleated kilt, made by me to your measurements, in the tartan of your choice? And the best part.... it's only $5.00!
Well, $5.00 won't guarantee you'll get a kilt made by me, but it will get you a chance. And you can buy as many chances as you like.
The Scottish Tartans Museum is holding a raffle for one of my kilts, which will be made-to-measure for the winner. We are starting to sell tickets now, and will hold the drawing at the Taste of Scotland Festival on June 19 this year. (You do not have to be present to win).
Obviously, you can purchase your tickets at the museum. But to help folks who want to participate but may not be within an easy distance of Franklin, NC, we have also set up an on-line ordering page for the raffle tickets.
http://scottishtartans.org/raffle.htm
It's just like our gift shop pages in terms of payment, and in fact you can even add a raffle ticket or twelve to any order you place through our gift shop. Just "add to cart."
The winner will be contacted for measurements and tartan choice. You can choose any medium or heavy weight tartan stocked by Lochcarron, House of Edgar, or Strathmore.
What's more, I'm waiving my normal tailoring fee for this kilt, so even more of the proceeds from this fund raiser will go directly to support the museum.
Spread the word far and wide! If the raffle is successful we may repeat it every year. Good luck, everyone!

Are you also waiving the 6 month wait?

Easily done, as it is roughly 6 months to the draw. Matt simply selects one of my tickets now, contacts me for Bob's details, and presents the finished kilt on June 19!

I'm definitely in. I hope that this brings a goodly sum of money for the museum. Now I just have to find some time to get myself down there to see it!

That sounds like a good idea. Just a simple matter of swapping "contacting you" to "contacting me". Simple really.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Even with the six month wait, this is fantastic! Matt's kilts are a work of art! Take the chance! Take the chance!
Matt, does the "any medium or heavy weight tartan" include House of Edgar's Old and Rare collection?

Yup. Anything in their line. Essentially, you can pick any tartan that does not have to be custom woven.
