Have your iron set at medium high, NO STEAM. Make sure your pleat is straight, you can use a paper clip at the bottom of the pleat. Place heavy brown paper( make sure it isn't waxed) over the pleat to be ironed. Then iron the pleat pressing down firmly.
In the trade we generally top stitch the pleat so it holds it's crease
