The BBC/Open University tv series is now available on DVD. Presented by Neil Oliver and award winning photography makes this a must see. Highly recommended. Whether you believe the historical facts or not is irrelevant, it's just stunning to look at.

I loved the TV series, and the discussion at the finale was rather interesting, too.

An' it's a Region 2 DVD...whadarewesupposetado?

So many things are multi-region these days, I'm surprised that they didn't release it as such.

Bad enough that I have to wait for the Terry Pratchett stuff to show up on Amazon.com in the Region 1 format...but at least that I know will show up...this, I'm not so sure...

Sorry, SF, but I thought the same thing until I checked the details.

What's being talked about is the Neil Oliver one...which happens to be broken up into ten minute segments on You Tube....annoying to watch in tem minute segments and the video is a bit jerky at times but the information is there. Having watched the first two parts, I have to agree that it's very good. Reminds me of a series on Ireland that I saw a few years back where they made a point of separating the facts from the popular fictions.

If you do end up with a non-Region 1 DVD: To get an all-regions DVD player here in Canada it used to be necessary to go to a big Chinatown, where they were (and are) imported for that specific function. More recently they seem to be everywhere, esp the cheaper models, and American friends have specifically told me they are sold at Costco. Well they told me that last summer. Due to a fondness for Japanese films, I couldn't be without one myself.
