Which Monarch of the Glen character are you?
Girls are always going on about which Sex in the City character they are. What if we change it up a bit and ask which Monarch of the Glen character you are?
I'm definitely a Hector. Stubborn, traditional, and proper yet eccentric with a passion for history. A fondness for the outdoors but nowhere near as much as Golly.

But previous discussion does nothing for the present day.
I'd be the eager labrador, misremember his name, that brought Hector back the lit stick of TNT like a good doggie.

An' I don't want to be a stickler, but I think that Useless was an English Springer Spaniel rather than a Lab. (I only remember that because I never liked those Spaniels until I saw Useless. My dislike probably comes from one that a friend of mine owned who was pretty much a lox.)

(notice how I didn't say 'with a bang?'). When the show was newish, I went looking for the author's original books but found only a few of them (notably Whiskey Galore) and so I don't know who to blame for the admittedly somewhat weak and always fading TV show, the original author or the TV writers. But since I live in quite a Scottish area, from their scarcity I have a feeling that said books were on the whole not on a par with great Scottish literature.

Archie. I felt I could relate to him best of all the characters, and when he disappeared from the series that's when it became less enjoyable for me.

Then I wish you'd have swallowed it! That was the moment I really stopped caring about the series. *sigh* There's always the first seasons...
