Here's a link to the review of my casual kilt by B&S in the beautiful muted MacPherson tartan.

This is not really a review, but I just sold my B/S casual and got a great resale value on it. It was a good kilt.

I own two B&S casual kilts - a Modern Royal Stewart and a Maple Leaf Tartan. Both are 16oz and I'm extremely pleased with both of them. The fit and finish is very good, especially given the price. In my opinion, the B&S casuals represent great value.

Sir William and I met at the Fredericksburg Pub to celebrate the upcoming St. Andrew's Day. We both wore our new Burnett's & Struth casual kilts. Bill's tartan is Gunn modern and mine is Malcolm modern. These machine made kilts are an excellent value.
Since this post I've been giving the B&S a real workout and appreciate it more and more.

The cantle isn't my style but I wouldn't call someone a moron for designing it. The targe and cantle mix is growing on my. I have seen some nice Margret Morrison designed sporrans with this combination. To each his/her own.
I will agree that many black leather sporrans are dreadful. I am not fond of the Rob Roy style. Most look like someone wadded up a piece of leather and added a snap.
Finally, if you are wearing a tweed coat with a brown sporran make sure you have brown brogues on. I think brown sporran and black brogues is another faux pas.
I will try to remember to post some pics of my sporran.
1.) Margaret Morrison - Pierced celtic knot cantle, grey bovine fur with 3 chrome balls and leather and fur tassles
2.) L&M - Black leather with 3 tassles
Cheers.

Haven't bought anything from B&S, yet, but will do so shortly.
As for brown vs. black...just personal opinion, so don't get so uptight! Different strokes for different folks! I doubt anyone will be sent to hell just because they didn't wear a certain color sporran. El Diablo...be aware!!!

Why not at least offer your customers the option of special ordering a really nice dress sgian dubh made by a company like Celtic Art, Ltd., who still make dress sgians with carved ebony hilts, sterling silver mounts and leather sheaths. And try to get away from those blasted cookie-cutter model sporrans that everyone in the business seems to crank out with their monotonous cantle designs and limited style selection. How about nice suede leather day sporrans with real hinged brass or silver cantles? Or evening dress sporrans with long goat's hair? The whole concept of "semi-dress" sporrans should be trashed - the only people who buy them are those who don't know any better and don't realize that they make for a horribly ugly sporran for either dress or casual wear. And daywear sporrans should be brown in most cases - everyone seems hell bent on pushing black leather these days, which looks positively dreadful with a tweed jacket! While a black leather sporran may be suitable for formal morning attire when one is wearing a black Argyll or Braemar jacket, brown has always been the best choice for tweed.
By the way, this happens to be the most idiotic-looking sporran I have ever seen:
The moron who put this cantle with this sporran should be tossed out on his ear
We Appreciate your feedback. We are always expanding our accessories to suit the needs of our customers. Since some of our customers like traditional accessories and other contemporary we try our best to carry a range instead of just a certain style. Our website's range of accessories is quite small compared to in store where you can find many more Sgian Dubhs. Our website is being updated on a regular basis to expand its product selection to appeal to people with different tastes.
Thanks for your feedback.

Ladies and Gentlemen of XMTS,
Just a gentle reminder that the original questions on this thread was
We would like to get all reviews of our products or service in one place for easy reference.
This is for discussion of Burnett & Struth's products. Please keep the discussion to that and not veer off topic with personal opinions which would be better posted in a more general forum.
