Cap badge
I'm not sure where to put this post so if its in the wrong place Mod's please feel free to move it to the correct flora.
I have several clan cap badges but they are thick and "bulky", and they tend to hang/pull on the bonnet cockade downwards (I think this is the best description). Does anyone know where to get thinner lighter badges that would lay flatter on the cockade, maybe in brass, silver or pewter?

Check with Matt Newsome at the Tartans Museum. He has a vendor who makes them in silver.

When given a choice, most people will choose.

What is yours made of?
I know Matt Newsome does cap badges in silver but I’m not sure how much they weigh in at. Both of my cap badges are quite heavy and pull at my bonnet, I don’t really know if there is much that you can do except maybe an internal support, My RAF cap badge was issued to me with a gold coloured plate which goes inside my beret to give a little extra support for the badge something like that might work.

I haven't actually put one on the scale for comparison, but the silver badges we offer are much thinner and finer than the bulky pewter badges are are so common these days.

I doubt you'll be disappointed.

USMC Badge
Matt,
Would a USMC Eagle, Globe, and Anchor badge be available?

Geoff, if Matt can't help you, check with "Piper's Cove" in Kearny NJ. Jock Nesbitt carries a fair assortment of Marine Corp cap badges, buckles and plaid brooches.
All skill and effort is to no avail when an angel pees down your drones.

I don't think our artist has done one before, but he has made specialty badges for groups such as the Scottish American Military Society, etc., so I don't see why he couldn't do one for the USMC.
If you are interested, email me at the museum (tartans@scottishtartans.org) or call me and I'll talk to him and see if it can be done.
