    Prom 2010

I volunteered to be one of the chaperones for the BHS 2010 Prom. Of course I left the camera on the table after taking these shots and did not get any of the students ALL dressed up. My wife did not want to go this year as she said once is enough. "You get paid for this and I don't!" She's right, so I donned my earplugs and headed off.
I don't have a formal/dress up sporran, but the one I'm wearing is my best and favorite. The kilt pin is new from the Harp and Dragon and is a wonderful Celtic knot. There were eight faculty members there and we all got to go home early at 10:30 P.M. It was LOUD and I feel that my hearing will recover by Monday. I have to do this again next year as I will be a Senior Class Sponsor. The entire night was fun and interesting to watch.

Looking good, McNulty. That outfit doesn't need a formal sporran at all.

    Very nice!

I was a prom chaperon myself last night--my wife is an art teacher--and went kilted. I found it nice that the kids, most of whom had never seen a kilt in person--were very receptive and asked very mature and dignified questions about it.

    Good on ya, sir!

Only 8 faculty there? That's either a little school or one well-behaved group of students. My principal required all 92 of us to attend the prom, but several of us complained enough so that we were offered "other" duties.

You look really sharp, McNulty. You don't need a PC or any of that other stuff.

We are a very small school, about 460 students. Faculty had to be there but the parents really chip in and work several shifts.

The theatre I work at does an after prom showing for the kids of two of the three local high schools. This year more of the boys were dressed nicely compared to years past. About time they started to put more effort into looking good.
