Beware the wind!
An wind aided "individual" pic from a casual photo shoot of the band at Sutro Baths in San Francisco this past weekend. [Note that I was smartly griping an inner pleat with my thighs--whew! ]
And the immediate followup:
Perfect day for the Utilikilt Workman's--though I could have used the vanity buttons on my Survival.

I think I see what your problem is - you're wearing your guitar too high. If you wore it lower, it would give you the protection that is so lacking at the moment. If the strap doesn't lengthen then a hunched over, scrunched-up stance would be required. You would, of course, have to change your playing style (if you can still play while scrunched-up). But life is all a compromise and we can't have everything.
Or, I suppose, you could wear a sporran, when not on stage.

Chas

Maybe you should start playing a cello.

"...he don't know where the wind comes from, but he sure knows where it's goin'!"
I'm not familiar with UK construction. Do they not have the double apron like a trad kilt? The wind was kicking hard last weekend, all it ever did was either hold down the outer apron, or hold down the inner apron.

Isn't the whole point of the sporran shaped row of studs on the Utilikilt to prevent it from rising too high at the front?
The wind the wind, The naughty wind,
That blows those kilts so high,
But God is just,
He sends the dust,
To blind the prying eye.

The buttons are just low enough to keep most guys from out and out scaring the neighbors but there are times when is feels reeeeeaaal close to revealing ones religion.
