Hawick Highland Games 2010 - An Insider's View

Our local games were struggling to find an organising committee this year and I agreed to take on Secretary, on the day I also had to take on the role of Treasurer. The games were open for six hours but necessitated me spending a ten and a half hour day on site to ensure it all ran smoothly.
Let me take you through the events from an insider's view of the games.

The highland dancers were first to get going.

Another early event was the High School tug o'war.

The opening parade for the adult games, Cheiftain Greg Easton takes the opening salute accompanied by his lass Stacey Brand and Chairman and Founder of the Hawick Highland Games, Councillor Davie Paterson.

I spotted these guys in the crowd, I thought I recognised the one on the right from somewhere and indeed he confirmed that he posts on xmarks as Edinburghkiltie.

Here her group are joined by piper John McLaren of Hawick Scout Fellowship Pipe Band

    At the closing ceremony.
Our Chieftain had to leave early and I stood beside Provost Zandra Elliot to take the closing salute.

Massed bands marching for the final salute.

What a great event! Thanks so much for sharing with us. Great pictures! You and Ann obviously had a great time!
