A Good Father's Day

A Happy Father's Day to all on the boards here.

I just had to post how lucky I was today. I started the day off by getting a gift certificate for a Utilikilt for Father's Day!! What a score that was!

Then I had the good fortune to watch my 8 year old son play catcher in 3 back to back baseball games for the second day in a row. Our town hosts a Father's Day baseball tournament for the local Babe Ruth league. The team only won half of their games but, what a joy it was to watch my son and his teammates give those other teams a run for their money!

Of course ending the day with hugs as the kids were on their way to bed is just icing on the cake.

My brothers family, my parents, and my family all got together for a barbeque. My nephews are tenting in the back yard in the Army surplus pup tents I got for them, and my adopted daughter (meaning my daughter's best friend) is spending the night, and has been here all day because her own father did something to his eye and ended up in the hospital! He's one of those guys who believes in "macho tests" and gets himself injured proving how manly he is! So it was a fun day. My dad, brother and I engaged in a little father/sons project- we built an awning over the flagstone patio for my mom. My mom and kids got me some new leatherworking supplies- a small tool kit to take with me to festivals. That way, I can sit and work, as well as show off what I'm making. So it was overall a good day!

Randal, you really scored! The most I got out of Father’s Day was a card and a pen from my daughter-in-law and her daughter (my son is in the process of adopting the little girl; the pen is inscribed Granddad) and a Father’s Day special meal with my wife at a local steakhouse.
And then I had to go to work.
A kilt next year? I can only hope!
I hope all the dads out there had a great day.

A god day all around. I went to a minor league baseball game with my son, built a birdhouse with him during the game (kudos to Home Depot) and found out that my newest kilt was on its way. My "real" Father's Day present was going to Penn-Mar Irish Festival in York, PA with my family on Saturday and seeing Barleyjuice perform for two hours. A Father's Day weekend for the ages!
