			Kilt too long

Hi, today I received a new traditional kilt i just bought from Paul, which fits my waist. The only problem: It's a bit too long. Since I weat my kilts middle knee cap, it's approx. 2 and a half inches too long. I can't wear it higher because I'm alrealdy at the tightest setting.
Any advice? Should I go to the tailor?

First, contact Paul and see what he suggests-- he's a well respected kilt maker and will undoubtedly do everything he can to make sure your kilt fits as it should.

Where does the fell hit you? If the fell is also "too long" i.e. the stitched portion of pleats extends significantly below the widest part of your hips, the kilt is not going to look as good as it should. Hemming will exacerbate the problem in that you will have less "open" pleat area than you should. I echo the suggestion that you speak with Paul (who IIRC is a supplier rather than maker) about the fit and alternatives.

I had a kilt that was to long in its "length." So, I sent it to Bonnie Heather (a member of this forum) and she hemmed it for me, and the results were fantastic!
Here is what I had, and thought could be done about it:

And this is what she did:

					Your call for sure.
I had a kilt that was "too long." Sold it and bought one that was the right length for me. Kilts hold their value well. Many of the kilts I've sold have since been resold. There's a great market for "previously loved" kilts.

So another option is to sell it and start over with the proceeds. Might actually prove less expensive than making complex repairs.
