    More on Colditz Kilts

Just rereading the now closed thread on Colditz kilts. Saw a History Channel program on Colditz last night which included the first two pics in the OP of the now closed thread.

Got me to wondering how the kilted gentlemen got the kilts into a high security prison. Unlikely they were captured kilted. Guessing they either came in through the Red Cross clothing part of the Geneva Convention or that they were made in prison. Guessing the former.

Even more interesting is that the German's tolerated the kilt wearing and allowed photos of it. Perhaps a form of propaganda showing the "good care" given.

There was so much knowledge on the now closed thread, maybe someone can speak to the above.

I have not seen the original post Ron, but these kilted chaps could well have been from the 51st Highland Division captured in Northern France in 1940. This fine body of men were amonst those left to fight a rear guard action to allow the majority of the British Expaditionary Force to escape. 1940 in France was the year and place that the kilt was last(officially?) worn in battle by the Highlanders.
