Just wanted to get some opinions as to what the best Scotch was for the money. Thanks, XMarkers!

Give Jon, Mark, and Robbo's "The Smokey Peaty One" a try.

If this is a question of inexpensive but reasonably good...
...Speyburn has been quite adequate and is usually available at bargain prices in my neighborhood. Interesting how several of my friends have formed the same opinion independently.
Bear in mind that I would never try to pass myself off as an afficianado of the whisky but I have a bottle of it in the pantry and tend to have a little taste while I'm busy cooking dinner evenings 'cause I relish the flavor.
Best

Glenmorangie...even their least expensive bottle is very good for an entry-level or well-versed scotch drinker.

My first choice for price in a malt is Glenmorangie Original, too, but for a blend Grants doesn't sit on the drinks tray and gather dust either. Yes, but I have a Bruichladdich Wave on my tongue at the moment and at GBP41 I am a very happy person

Grants is my blend of choice as well! My go-to Whiskeys are Macellan 12 Laphroaig 10, Ardbeg 10 and Auchentoshan Classic. Pretty much anything spendier is a special occasion bottle.

I am inclined to agree. I once had a gent stand me to a dram on what can only be described as a dreich and drear sart o day and it was the best moofie of malt I had ever had to that point.
I read a recent article{back number of Yachting Mag.) on some high end whisky tour of the Islands and the terms used to describe the products tasted...... terms like,"hints of kelp" and "an undercurrent of tar" not to mention the inevitable "pleasantly peaty"
My my...
What ever your whiskey....enjoy and share with those you love ....cheers!
