    Good evening all,

For those who live in the US and have a Half Price Book Store put out a lot of books on scotch which normally means that they have been pulled off shelves everywhere and are available in most stores -

    Was $7US

Do you really need a book on Scotch? Here is how the story goes you buy the Scotch, you open the Scotch, you drink the Scotch maybe share some with your friends...
    The End.

True, but I have bought one or two bottles that I was sorry about.

The more you know, the more expensive it gets- but I still want to know more than I know. Also, it's a pleasure just to read about things I'm interested in.

What I could really use is one of those CDs or DVDs that tell you how to pronounce Scotch brand names. You know, how a word like 'Lapraihaoighenthambfthmgorham' is correctly pronounced "buttertuppence."

The only time I ever need a book on scotch is when I get up to use the water closet and need to cover my still partially filled glass to keep any of the valuable elixir from evaporating whilst I am "away" temporarily. I guess it might be usefull for similar circumstances on a hot day to keep the flies from sipping down any significant portion of the lovely stuff as well, although most of the stuff I drink would likely end up leaving them floating in the glass after a wee tupple, also a bit of a nuisance to try to drink around them thereafter.

I guess I'm in the "for" camp. I love reading about stuff, pretty much anything really.

If the book has short histories of the given brands and distilleries behind them, I'd be game, ESPECIALLY for only $7.

If I'm remembering correctly, Michael Jackson (no, not the 'Thriller' guy) had quite a good book about the different Whiskies.

I may squeak out today and check our local 1/2Price, thanks Drac

A few years back, I purchased Michael Jackson 's Complete Guide to Single Malt Scotch, 5th Edition. It is actually a very good read. The descriptions of each Scotch are wonderful to read even if I could never do that job. (Let me see if I have this correct: Sniff, okay. A small amount in the mouth and swirl it around to taste all of the nuances of the whisky, Oh yeah! Spit it out, WHAT???)

Michael Jackson and Charles MacLean are my two favorite whisky writers. I'd highly recommend any other their books, especially MacLean's Whisky: A Liquid History, and Jackson's Whiskey: The Definitive World Guide.
