Blast! I forgot! Last year I got special permission from my boss to wear my kilt to work on St. Andrew's Day (the only time I've worn it to work). I was hoping to make that a tradition. But I sure blew it this year!

Ya know... I woke up this morning thinking "I feel like dressing a little more traditionally today" and I strapped on my 9 yard MacLeod of the Isles, proper socks and flashes, etc, and I had no idea why. Now I know! Something in the back of my head must have been telling me...

I have to ask - why Saint Andrew and not, say, Saint Columba (Colum Chille)?

Patron saint gets special treatment. Secular celebration is included. Saintly saints are a personal matter. As far as why Andrew got the Patron nod, you'd have to go back and ask those that did the choosing.
