    I Am Curious Khaki

Anyone have a clue why the finer kilt hose makers like Lewis and Tiree don't offer their product in khaki/tan???

Plenty of khaki/tan kilt hose from the less expensive kilt hose manufacturers...why not Lewis and Tiree?

    A puzzler......

Good question. I wonder if khaki maybe doesn't sell as much as other colors, so they figure it's not worth their time or cost to market them.

I have one pair of khaki hose, but I find that they are so close to skin tone that they just don't look very good. From a distance it almost looks like I'm not wearing hose at all, save for the color of my garter ties. So I really don't wear them any more. Maybe this would explain low sales or low interest (if indeed this color doesn't sell very well, which is pure speculation on my part).

    *edited to add:

According to Matt in this thread, the "bison" color Lewis hose are an "oatmeal" or "tan" color. Not khaki per se, but probably pretty close.

***. Unless you are really tan or very pasty, there's little contrast with skin tone which, to my eye, isn't flattering.

Besides, why go with khaki when you can have red?

Red hose? Did someone mention red hose?

I made a pair of khaki hose for a young man once upon a time and never heard from anyone involved whether he liked them, hated them, or even received them.

The "matching the color of your legs" argument is probably the best one for why some hose manufacturers don't make khaki hose, even if they can agree what color it is.

Have two pair of the "bison" in Lewis hose. Not khaki or tan to me.

I thought khaki was a sort of basic color to go with most anything. Would think sales would ge good.

Maybe part of the problem is that with colour, we often see and talk about things differently.

    Wikipedia shows this variation:

    • Light Khaki (X11 "Khaki") (Hex: #F0E68C) (RGB: 240, 230, 140)
    • Khaki (HTML/CSS) (Hex: #C3B091) (RGB: 195, 176, 145)
    • Dark Khaki (X11 "Dark Khaki") (Hex: #BDB76B) (RGB: 189, 183, 107)
    But also gives these:

    • Khaki variation 1 (Hex: #C5B395) RGB (197, 179, 149)
    • Khaki variation 2 (Hex: #C8B69A) RGB (200, 182, 154)
    • Khaki variation 3 (Hex: #CBBBA0) RGB (203, 187, 160)
    • Khaki variation 4 (Hex: #CFC0A7) RGB (207, 192, 167)
    • Khaki variation 5 (Hex: #D5C8B2) RGB (213, 200, 178)
    • Khaki variation 6 (Hex: #C1AD8D) RGB (193, 173, 141)
    • Khaki variation 7 (Hex: #BEAA88) RGB (190, 170, 136)
    • Khaki variation 8 (Hex: #BBA582) RGB (187, 165, 130)
    • Khaki variation 9 (Hex: #B7A07B) RGB (183, 160, 123)
    • Khaki variation 10 (Hex: #B19870) RGB (177, 152, 112)
Will the true Khaki, please stand up.

    Regards

    Chas

    That's funny,
the one that jumps to MY mind as khaki is #3 in the top series, and then #1 would be called Lt. Khaki.

#3 is the colour we in the UK call Olive.

Would you mind posting some pictures of you wearing the bison hose? I've been looking for a photo of them to see what color they actually are in normal lighting.
