Kilted at Hogmanay
As well as the great anthem of Robert Burns being sung around the world at Hogmanay, is there any X-Markers who will not be kilted at this time, surely this is the one time that every member will be wearing their kilt (albeit the time difference)?
So whats happening with you guys then?

Alas.... those who empower, with the placement of their signature, the release of the pittance upon which I subsist have decreed that the kilt cannot be worn in place of the prescribed uniform; I will not be kilted for a portion of the day. I will be kilted the morning and early afternoon until I have to leave for work. I get off duty about an hour before the "ball drops" local time. I am taking my kilt to work and will change before I leave to rush to the house of the person where the Welcoming of the New Year is taking place. Private celebration, just the two of us and if I don't talk myself out of it before then, I plan to ask her to change from S.O. to Mrs. as the ball drops.

Hi Jimmy:
Oh yes, I'm definitely kilting for Hogmanay. My wife, X-marker 'Kilted Chaos' (so named because she's a roller derby girl), and I are attending what is sure to be a very interesting Hogmanay/New Year's Eve soiree! We're going to a local historical theater here in Jacksonville, Florida (http://www.5pointstheatre.com/history) which is dedicated to local art, independent film, classic films, live music, etc. A great venue 'off the beaten path'! At 'The Points' during Hogmanay, we'll see the "New Orleans Bingo! Show" (http://www.neworleansbingoshow.com/Site/VIDEO.html). This music/art performance group is described as "dressed in black, white and red like the leering faces on a good poker hand, the Bingo! Show is a multimedia stage experience that includes original black-and-white silent films, aerialists, dancers, ingénues, clowns, audience interaction, bingo games, slapstick comedy and shady characters who remind you that every stage door opens into a dark alley."
Going to be interesting to see if the appearance of my kilt will even make a ripple!
Wishing All a Prosperous New Year!

I won't be kilted at Hogmanay unfortunately, although I will be having a great time in a small village in Northern Spain. The place where we go for "Cap d'any" gets rather crowded, and there's far too much danger of red wine stains, cigarette burns and other "drunken hazards" associated with wearing a kilt at such parties.
I have a nice striped Ben Sherman shirt which I will pretty much be able to guarantee goes to the Sallies afterwards... Anyway, I'll do my best to dress up in clothes which I (unfortunately must) consider disposable... my kilt (and the rest that goes with it- hand knit hose, jacket etc.) doesn't fall in that catagory.
My wedding there in a few years WILL be kilted!
Cheers,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Michael

I know that feeling! That's why I will be wearing a cheap "knock around" Stillwater Kilts kilt.
