    Hoff Kilter

What about the Hoff, he breezes into Scotland to be a judge in Britain's Got Talent, dons a Forever Scotland kilt which he decides to buy form a Glasgow supplier at £200, tells the people outside who are gathered to get a glimpse of him, that it is great to be in Ireland, calls the kilt, a skirt! and then proceeds to show his audience that he is not a true Scotsman with a pair of Baywatch speedos underneath! What about him?

The Hoff did a stint on Dancing with the Stars. He and his partner were early vote outs and his visit to Scotland seems to exhibit the same lack of talent and - manners.

I feel compelled to come to the defense of The Hoff. I think he only started promoting the moniker "The Hoff" following his brilliant appearance in "The Spongebob Movie". I take his use of the nickname, and indeed his whole presentation, as very much self-mockery, and more than tongue in cheek. His self deprecation and self mockery are actually quite appealing. He is actually quite open about being a Hollywood moron, and plays that up to a fare thee well. I find it an entertaining act, in very, very small doses. His stint with "Ireland", the "skirt" and the speedos may have been part of his self mocking shtick, but that could be hard to call without viewing the footage...
"Before two notes of the theme were played, Colin knew it was Patrick Mor MacCrimmon's 'Lament for the Children'...Sad seven times--ah, Patrick MacCrimmon of the seven dead sons....'It's a hard tune, that', said old Angus. Hard on the piper; hard on them all; hard on the world." Butcher's Broom, by Neil Gunn, 1994 Walker & Co, NY, p. 397-8.

Yup, one in the same. Only now he oddlly insists that he be called "The Hoff" - at least so I've heard.
