Don't try...do you watch the molecules of water as they flow by? Watch the leaf, then focus on another.

I think I just invented Kilt Zen :oP

You don't HAVE to follow every post. It's like walking into a crowded room and trying to follow every conversation that every person is having.

Here's what I do... Go into the General Forum (or whatever section) and put your mouse over the thread's topic. A little box pops up with the first few sentences of what the post is about. If it interests you, read it. If not, skip it. I don't read EVERY post in every thread. I just check out the ones that interest me.

Then go to the "Forum Tools" box, scroll down to click "Mark This Forum Read" and get a good night's sleep.

    Cheers.

This is like saying ' I can't eat every meal that this restaurant offers so I will not eat here at all! '

In Irish Terrier that translates to human language as:
Have a couple minor goals and a larger ultimate goal.
Follow the topics and conversations that pique your immediate interest, then maintain the larger objective of finding that tidbit of information or contributing to a relevant continuing thread.

Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

When I log in, I click on the "new posts" link in the user CP box. There are usually a few pages worth of threads to sort through, but if I only click on the four or five threads that really interest me, it only takes a few minutes to see what I want to see and make the comments that I want.

I've been an active member on a wet shaving forum for six years. Back then, it was smaller than X Marks is now, but it grew quickly and hasn't stopped. It is now ten times the size X Marks is and truly impossible to follow everything. I can no longer use the New Posts option and not spend a day going through it all. I visit the individual forums and scan those. From time to time, as I've the time, I'll throw in a variable forum to see what's being going on.

I've often wished for the option to 'Follow' Members. Follow their Threads Started or even their Posts. Those could show up in my Control Panel for me as automatic subscriptions. Make sure I don't miss the next new sporran.

Follow where your heart leads you through this forum and while you will not see everything, you will find enough to make you glad that you looked!
I've found that most relationships work best when no one wears pants.
