Not sure if this is the right place to post this (please do move it if it's inappropriate), but I was doing some thread counting on some of my waistcoats (in mock tartan and various assorted check patterns) and seeing what they looked like in the Croft Weaver. After realizing that the pattern on one was kind of like a camouflage-colored version of so-called "Glen Urquhart Plaid," I started looking around the web at other estate checks.

Anyway, I ran across this site, and thought it might be of interest round here. I don't know how any of checks would look in kilts (though I love the look of Mr Newsome's tweeds), but it did occur to me that synthesizing a houndstooth/check pattern and something like the Ulster Red tartan (say) could perhaps be an interesting way to give a standard tartan some more depth (vide infra).

Any thoughts?

Y'a bon,

Jake
