Kilt Accessories
I will be recieving my first kilt in April. I wanted to see if anybody knows of any good places to get my sporran, belt, buckle and other accessories that I will need. I looked at several sites so far and I want to make sure that I choose good quality products. I would appreciate and information that I can get at this point.

I would start with USA Kilts and also the Scottish Tartans Museum. L&M also makes high quality sporrans.

Depending on how much you want to spend?
Sporran by Ferguson Britt and you get a complimentry sporran belt (you buy thru STM) $300 - 400
OR
Sporran by Artificer - create your own style with the help of the master craftsman
Kilt belt by MOJO Leather $60.00
Hose from the Lewis range at STM, also garter ties
Tweed Jacket and waistcoat from Rocky at USA Kilts or STM $440 - 495
Balmoral from Chris at Dunnard Trading (his cost includes postage)
Good luck with the hunting, it's a never ending WANT THIS, WANT THAT

I believe a pilgrimage to Franklin, NC (the Scottish Tartans Museum and gift shop) is in order!
Meanwhile, click the advertisers' links on this page, and you can hardly go wrong.

Nothing beats hands-on examination of the merchandise. A road trip to the Scottish Tartan Museum and Gift shop in Franklin, NC is definately in order. Made that trip when visiting Chatt, and it was a great drive. (Except for the detour I had to take due to a road closure. So check conditions first.)
So browse online first, make notes then get your hands on the items.

You won't find everything in one place. I found working on one piece of kit at a time allows me to search the Internet (and this forum) more thoroughly so I can find the best stuff and the best (well, close, I usually miss the real deals) price.

For your leather goods...
You should consider Oconee Leather Works (http://oconeeleatherworks.com/) for your belt and sporran strap. Steve does top-notch work and is a member of this forum. I own two of his belts and straps (black/brown) and highly recommend them.
I'll second the recommendation for sporrans made by the Artificer (http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/m...al-commission/), and will also recommend Thorfinn Custom Sporrans (http://www.thorfinnsporrans.com/) especially if you're in the market for a Rob Roy-style sporran. I've had a fur sporran (skunk) made by Scott (Artificer), and an elk skin Rob Roy made by Turpin (Thorfinn Custom Sporrans) and both are outstanding. Both of these makers are forum members as well.

For sporran I strongly recommend McRostie here: http://www.mcrostie.co.uk/index.asp?...k%2Fhome%2Easp
and Donnie at Wyvernleatherworks here: http://wyvernleatherworks.com/
McRostie has belts too. You can get a great one elsewhere as there are lots and lots from Orvis to J. C. Penny. Sweaters are nice as are oxford shirts with ties and vests or waistcoats.
