    New Jacket...IT's HERE!!

So here are the pictures (see, it really happened). I ordered a made to order from USAK jacket to complete my outfit...

Jacket: Charcoal argyle with gauntlet cuffs and matching waistcoat. Faux staghorn buttons.
Kilt: USAK 8 yd premium in the Michigan State University tartan (custom run of tartan) with matching flash. There are 50 mph wind gusts here today, so you can see a bit of the pleats blowing out from behind too.
Casual/day wear black leather sporran with celtic knot work and I noticed after the picture that the sporran is a bit off center, but such is life...right?
Bottle green tie and hose (yes, I know it's a bit matchy matchy, but I like it and I'll add non matching accessories over time).

I do not like to wear kilt pins (just for clarity and to preclude the "you are just missing a kilt pin" comments) and I realize that my bottom button is buttoned--the jacket and waistcoat were fresh out of the shipping box, there are still some wrinkles that need to hang out (or be ironed).

I would wear this almost ANYWHERE that didn't specify or dictate a formal dress code. In fact, I am more comfortable dressed like this than in a t-shirt and more casual outfits.

Thanks Rocky!! I couldn't be more pleased. I really appreciate your time and assistance with both my kilt and jacket orders.

    New Look

    Smashing outfit!

    Very fine work by Rocky.

I like the overall look as it is more "muted" and not so flashy.

    Well done.

    Thanks.

Robert--I prefer the more subtle approach. The kilt stands out as is and I just feel more comfortable in the "less flashy" manner of dressing up.

CMcG--absolutely...like a glove. Thanks. I definitely ascribe to the theory of getting a few items that are made well and fit perfectly. They last forever if you take good care of them and look fantastic. Nothing helps the confidence like the feeling of clothing that fits exactly how it is supposed to fit.

    Looks great!!

And there is nothing wrong with having the bottom waistcoat button fastened.

My understanding is that 5-buttons are fastened all the way down, for 6-buttons the bottom one is left open.

There is no "must" here, but generally speaking we in the Highlands wear highland attire with the bottom button of the waistcoat done up. Saxon attire is another matter entirely.

I know it was intended as a compliment...but I find that many (if not most) models on Scottish Attire webpages are FAR from what I aspire to look like. Jackets are frequently poorly fitted (sleeves too long, boxy looking torso), sporrans are too low or too high and very commercial, kilts are frequently "dress" tartans, etc etc....the list goes on an on.

I will say, Spartan, that you look much BETTER, than a model off of a website. I questioned whether you were wearing a dress tartan at first, but then I read and saw what tartan it is...no issues.
