    My tartan day experience

    I live in Caithness, Scotland and there was nothing happening for tartan week up here. But I was determined to wear my kilt for tartan day, so here's how it went.

    I had to pick up a few things in Thurso so...

    1st stop. Autoparts. A few bits for my son-in-law's car.
    Now I have been in there many times before and he has just left me to it (it is a self service type of store) But this time, " Can I help you sir" Never been called sir before. And he leaped out from behind the counter and got me what I wanted.

    2nd stop. Geddes farm supplies. Called to pick up a large bag of Dr Johns dog food for my Daughter's dogs, a Lurcher and a border collie. It is on a account and I usually pick up the bag myself and put it in the boot of my car. But this time he leapt out from behind the counter and picked up a bag and placed it in the boot of my car for me. I said thank you very much and he said your very welcome sir. ( there's that Sir again)

    3rd stop. Co-Op supermarket in the centre of town.
    Mostly used by middle aged folk. A lot of smiles and a very nice comment on how smart I looked by the checkout lady.

    So all in all a very very nice day. I did not see another kilted person all day.

    It's a shame to hear there was no one else kilted in your area but it's always awesome to hear of a good day kilted.
    It seems a good day kilted beats a great day in p@nts anytime.

    Heck, a crappy day in a kilt beats a good day in pants! Way I see it, if I'm going to have a good day, I'll be comfortable, and that makes it all the better. If I'm going to have a crappy day, then I'll be comfortable- and that makes it less crappy.

    So with that in mind, it's always good to hear positive experiences. Most of mine- that stand out, anyway- center around ladies buying me alcohol. It would be nice if one would help me carry my groceries from time to time, though!

    Tartan Day

    Didn't wear my kilt for Tartan day, but I did fly the Saltire on my front door & cooked a batch of stovies for Sunday breakfast!!
