    Letting in a kilt

I have been given a cheap kilt (Lidl I think) 5yd 12oz 20% wool, 80% polyester. Hardly worn if at all.

It had been shortened (at the bottom hem) from the standard 24 inch to 21.5 inch so is just the right length for me. But the one I already have is size 32/33 and this one is 34/36 (thats whats on the labels).

With the buckles at minimum it is still too loose so made an extra hole in each strap but still not enough. It needs to be at least another inch or two smaller at waist.

Any way I could make this fit. I would only use it at home for slobbing about in.

    Hi Chris,

There have been a few threads lately on how this is done - it is said that the search function is your friend. But in essence, you move the buckle on the right side and the strap on the left side. It is not a difficult job, just maybe a bit fiddly.

    Regards

    Chas

The kiltmakers might say this is not true, but it just might work to take off the front aprons, cut out one of the front pleats, and reattach the aprons. That might destroy the whole kilt, so don't do it unless a kiltmaker OKs it.
