Keltival
After my long absence from the forum, I'm back. Being employed after a year, my work takes most of my time and the rest is spent at home.
I was really surprised when I heard announcement on local radio, that there will be a Celtic Festival (Kelt+festival = Keltival) in my home town. The town is Kranj (which has the roots in the name of Celtic tribe lived here 3000 years ago - Carns).
It was not the best timing due to Easter Holidays, which was the main reason, there were not so many people. I took my younger son (13) with me, while he felt enough comfortable to go with me while me being kilted. We were there around 8 in the evening. It was organized in »Ice hall«. Main attraction was local (Celtic) Beer Belly Band, with some Irish dancers, stand up comedy and knight swords fights. Some groups were showing their activities, like : Serreti (Celtic tribe named after a group of Celts lived on this territory), leather craftsman from nearby town, knights. Of course; Guinness and Jameson Irish Whisky.
Leather craftsman had quit some items that could be used as a sporran, kilt straps or belt. I have to visit him in the shop some day. After that I tried some swords; one handed, one and the half handed and the big one (like Claymore). The most interesting part (besides music and dance) was the conversation with Serreti members, which offered me some specialties based on old recipes. They had some ribbons made on sort of antic hand looms, with some plates. Those could be easily used as a ties. I'll try to learn some more about those looms and will let you know if I find something more. They even made the replica of Celtic sword based on some original found in Celtic graves.
Here are some pics. I had my old Kodak camera with me and left my big gear at home, so the pics are not the best. After the bacteria (I mean batteries) died I had to take the picture of me with my cell phone, after I came home.

Accordion (Harmonica) is national instrument in Slovenia and you can play anything on it. Like this guy who was playing pipes without pipes. With left hand the drones were held and with right hand the pipes melody. The sound was surprisingly good and pipes like.

Nice photos. I find it amazing that since 1989 we learn so much about other countries.

Great stuff, man. Just really goes to show that the Celtic tribes and clans are spread wide across this world!
