The Rabble is to blame!
I never would have taken the leap into the big world of kiltification had my months of lurking not equipped me to make sound decisions (or maybe some of you will disagree!) concerning my kilt purchase. Reading what was inviolate and what could be tweaked to personal taste yielded this:

The kilt is a 14oz Welsh "tartan" (I can feel the collective cringe) made by USA Kilts (premier style). The sheriffmuir jacket was my chief concern, since I loved the look of the jacket and waistcoat, but not the traditional lace jabot & cuffs. Some gents who posted pics wear them quite well, but they would be too jarringly inconsistent with my personality. The silk cravat was an option some members discussed, and I went with it. I think it works quite well.
I would like to give special thank you's to Rocky of USA Kilts, John Hart of Keltoi and Alexis Malcolm...their superior patience and products made the journey fun and much less intimidating. Their excellent customer service is what we should demand from anyone wanting our business!

Your pose is making you look small. Walk tall, you look great. I didn't cringe, I wear a "Heritage of Wales" kilt. What welsh tartan is it?

It's the Williams of Wales tartan. I was casually looking for my surname in some kind of sept affiliation and came across this. Loved the simplicity and the colors. Milled by Wales Tartan Center.

I think it's my height that's making me look small...

I think you look great! The white stock is an excellent replacement for a jabot, and I really like the colours of the tartan you're sporting.
Nothing really makes me cringe from the photo; though I'm not a fan of ghillie brogues (especially as evening wear) or tartan flashes.
Overall a very nice look. I commend you for springing for a velvet jacket, and the black and white hose are a nice touch as well.

No Ghillies?

Cygnus and CMcG-- Thanks for the feedback! What style of footwear would you recommend? My wedding is June 18th and I'd love to have everything perfect for my young lady. Every supplier I checked out only offered the ghillies...if you have an alternative for formal footwear, please include a good place to buy them!

Bar buckle brogues. John Hart at Keltoi has them.
