Stillwater a good option for 6 y.o.?
My son is wanting a kilt and I'm in a quandary. While I don't want to spend a fortune on something he'll outgrow in a year, I don't want to get him something that looks like he's wearing a tablecloth.
Stillwater has kids kilts for a very reasonable price, but so reasonable that I'm second guessing what I'll get for the money.
Anybody have experience with stillwater in general or their childrens' kilts in particular? Under 20 bucks seems "too good to be true".
I wish I believed in reincarnation. Where's Charles Martel when you need him?

We have two for our sixteen year-old son (I got them when I noticed how big his men's size 30 PV kilt is on him. I thought he should show some knee) . The kilts have the velcro closure, with no buckles, and are washable. They seem to be the scaled down version of the thrifty kilts. For what they are, I think they're awesome.
They may need a sweater shaver to "de-fuzz" them at some point.

I have one for my wee feegle in the Irish National and he loves it.
It is what it is. For $20 and to keep a child's enthusiasm for kilts going/starting, it's a great value.

My son is 6 and has the child kilt from Got-Kilt.com (they had a booth at the Orlando Highland Games) - it's made in P-stan and is acrylic... cost us $20 and fits him well although a bit long (he has to wear it military style at the ribcage) and on the very tightest setting. I can't remember if we got him the 5-6yo or the 7-8yo kilt, but for $20 bucks...

He looks cute, and it looks like it will fit him for a little while. For kids, probably best for it to just fit at the tightest notches, and be a little long, military style.

My 5-year-old son has one and it's ideal for him. He'll outgrow it long before it starts looking rough, and if (when) he tears it up or gets it muddy it isn't a huge investment lost.

$20 seems like it's cheap enough to just go for it. They grow so fast, it'll likely last as long as he can wear it anyway. Let us know what you decide.

I'm gonna do it. His birthday is in September, so I've got time to decide whether to go with the Stillwater or Got-Kilt version. Both have Black Watch available, which is somewhat similar to the MacKay that I wear.
I just can't seem to find any kids hose that aren't WHITE!
