    Talking Pets and Kilts

    If animals were kilt accessories, what animal would go with which outfit? Why?

    I imagine this might be a nice light hearted thread but maybe there is actually a traditional choice that I don't know about? Maybe Utilikilts go best with rottweilers? What do yo think?

    A Google search seems to show dogs being favoured, but what about cats, ferrets, snakes, falcons, or anything else? Hopefully we'll see some pictures of the rabble with their pets but here are some images from the web to get the conversation going.

    As a subtopic, what about pets wearing kilts?

    Meinfs has a picture of himself with a Burmese python over in my social group. I think he's wearing a Bear Tartan kilt too.
    I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
    Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

    Our savage wee beastie, Hai the semi-feral cat we rescued as a kitten a year and 10 months ago who's also the one in my avatar here, thinks kilts especially when worn by Mickey are the best place to sleep. She doesn't want to pose with them which is odd because she's normally my furry super model, but she is enchanted by kilts. I also need to get a photo of her doing a kilt check, but as she's got all her claws, Mickey gets a tad nervous when she tries.

    Mickey said;
    But apparently, the kilt makes an incredible cat hammock when someone is sitting. But she also is amazed by what is under the kilt and desperately wants to get up in there.... so cats are a little bit scary around kilts. Dogs have tongues. Cats have claws.

    This is certainly a good insight into the trend of kilts and dogs... yikes!

    The other potential cat issue is if you have one that likes to "muffin." My fiancee's cat does this and now I have a lovely mark in the center of the front apron of my kilt (my only kilt which I am planning to wear during our upcoming wedding ceremony). This happened when I had taken the kilt off and was making the short walk to the closet to retrieve my kilt hanger. I nearly had a new full mask sporran for the ceremony. Only good news is she has agreed this means I will need to get a new kilt once the funds are available. Sadly, that time is not going to be anywhere in the foreseeable future.

    Muffining is what kittens do with their front paws in order to get milk from their mothers. My understanding is it basically helps them to find the teet before their vision improves. Some cats continue to do this as adults and it basically is them stroking an item with their front paws while tugging at it lightly with their claws.

    My cat Lady Barbosa does that to my arm on a daily basis. She cuddles up to me, purrs, and proceeds to claw my arm to shreds! Darn cats... So anyways, here's my own pet accessory, a fat tabby by name of Tigger:

    And this would be Barbosa- notice the eye patch...

    Can't have a cat with a black eye patch and not give her a pirates name!
