    Exclamation Afganistan Memorial Tartan

    This one just registered: http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tar...aspx?ref=10425

    Looks great, IMHO.

Now we may watch The Man Who Would Be King and Charlie Wilson's war attired in a proper tartan.

Would like to see an Afghan tartan based on the colors of the theater service ribbon too...though by definition it would be a five color tartan...would be no mistaking it though.

Is that different than this one Brian?

J Higgins has offered it for a while, but perhaps just without it being registered with SRT.

Yes, if you notice the date of the tartan it was actually created July 2010. It was not formally registered until now. Strathmore has it available - I was privledged enough to see a bolt of it on their shelves when I was there last fall.

Sorry to take a rabbit trail. Here is a photo of my mother’s uncle, Captain James Robertson (standing)of the Kings Regiment-Liverpool in the Northwest Territories (Afghanistan, today) He spent over 20 years there and raised his family of two sons and a daughter. He was pulled out after Dunkirk to the UK to become a commando doing special operations in Nazi occupied Europe. One hell of man that I met the summer of 1970 when I graduated from high school and went over to the UK for the summer. [My apologies to the older members here of hearing this story, again.]

Please resume to posting about the tartan. Hmm maybe I need to get a kilt made of it honor Uncle Jim.

    .

Or, so as not to be confused with someone from the current era of conflict, perhaps one in what ever it is they are wearing in the photo. Any idea what that material and color is Mael Coluim ?

Great photo by the way, he sounds like quite a man!

Those be water-cooled machine guns my lad...that hose carries water through that housing on the barrel to keep it from melting during use!

Josh, I believe the guys in the kilts may be operating a weapon with a water cooled barrel jacket, that hose may be related to that.

I've been looking into getting a Kilt done in this Tartan as my "Tour Gift" to myself. Albeit a little late since I've been back a while now, but still. Alas, amid moving, and 2 kilts on the way already I'm hard pressed to convince the Wife to let me get this one just yet!

Riverkilt: I'd like to see one done in the Canadian Campaign Star for Afghanistan. The Red, White Green. I think it could look sharp.
