    Let the jones begin!

I just placed my order for a 5 yard wool kilt in the Maple Leaf tartan from USA kilts. This will be my first wool kilt. I placed the order at 9:40 PM and somehow the confirmation email was time stamped at 5:40 PM. Somehow Rocky knew I was going to order the kilt 4 hours in advance. If this is any indication of their speed I should have already received the kilt. I'll have to go check my closet. Thanks to all on this site and Rocky for helping me make my decision. I can't wait!

Nice choice of tartan. I love the look of that kilt. You are a lucky man.

So far I have three 5-yarders from Rocky. The latest, in the California state tartan, arrived Friday.

If you submitted the measurements correctly when you ordered, then I guarantee you're going to like it.

BTW, don't ever let anyone convince you that a 5-yard kilt is somehow "less than" a 8-yard "tank" in any respect but the total volume/yardage of cloth involved. For about the first hundred years of kilt wear, if you include the untailored feileadh beag, the standard was around 4 yards of tartan cloth. I honestly see no meaningful reason ever to order another 8-yard kilt. When I see one now, I tend to think, "too much ostentatious pleatage there". . .

The Maple Leaf from Batleys is (IMHO) the best looking version of that tartan and is one of my favorite tartans all around (I have it in an 8 yarder). Very nice choice.

    Rocky,
I love those mustard hose with that tartan. I'm thinking red or green would also look great. What a beautiful kilt.

I currently have 3 USA Casuals. I figured my next kilt from Rocky would be a Semi-Trad, but after seeing that photo, I couldn't resist from ordering that kilt and I made the leap to a 5 yarder.

Instead of making one for the rack, Rocky is making one for me, so now I'm jonesing for my new kilt.

Remy, nice choice for a kilt. We BOTH will look real sharp in our new 5 yarders once the JONES is over.

Rocky you are SO RIGHT, It's gorgeous. It will be my favorite right beside my Clan Claus Society kilt. (Claus of the North Pole, Scottish Tartan Authority ITI # 7869).
