This is an interesting idea. I guess if you didnt want the weight of a silver/pewter pin you could wear one of these.

Couple of things to keep in mind:

1. The photo is obviously of an armiger who has a bespoke badge made from bullion wire. While I don't mind the way it looks, from a traditionalist POV, a bullion badge is traditionally worn on on the pocket of a blazer/club jacket. You do see some individuals wearing them on day jackets with Highland kit from time-to-time, but to me, the bullion badge really belongs on a blazer/club jacket. That being said, I rather like this look.

2. There are examples of bullion cap badges for officers, such as the embroidered UN seal badges worn by Commonwealth peacekeeper officers, or a Brigadier's badge worn in bullion.

3. The majority of clansman badges available on the market in bullion are just too big for a bonnet badge. I have seen some smaller variants that might work, but again, I'm not so sure I'm keen on idea. Your mileage may vary.

Those are just my thoughts, no offence meant to anyone.

I had some badges made up by Victoria Regalia in Edinburgh until I decided to arrange for a silver Crest, which I had done by Roddy Young in Inverness. Both Victoria Regalia and Roddy Young did a wonderful job for me.

I know another chap located on the Isle of Skye, that does just as good of work, if not a wee bit better in my opinion. He did Cluny's chief badge, and the Guardians of the Clan Macpherson, badge - all bespoke in sterling silver. Roddy is very good too!!!

I concur with your thought process and comments, Todd. I prefer to see a circlet, or any other type of bonnet "badge" for that matter, done in a white metal, may it be pewter or sterling silver. Just my opinion.
