I going to Disney, kilted of course...
Hi all,
Due to a mistake in tickets for a planned trip for this weekend we had to come up with a new plan. Found some sale priced tickets to Orlando and added my military and it comes out about even (keeping the other plans would have cost us an extra $1000) so we are Disney World bound.
Will be there for Saturday and Sunday so we will be probably limiting our adventures to Magic Kingdom and Epcot rather than rush around trying (and failing) to see it all. Got rooms at Port Orleans Riverside.
Grabbing the ears, pins and kilt and we are on our way.
Pictures pending,
Jim

Have fun and take lots of photos. My wife and I stayed at Port Orleans last year when we were there and really liked the resort. You can take a boat to the Downtown Disney area from Port Orleans.

My wife and I were there last May and we stayed at Riverside as well. Very nice place. The boat ride to Downtown Diseny is nice, but sometimes the line to get on the boat can be long and the ride can take between 30 and 45 minutes. So if you make dinner reservations plan ahead. There is an Irish restraunt and pub in DD, but we didn't make it to that.

Yep thats Raglan Road pub.
Personally I'm a bigger fan of "The Mothership" - aka the Rose and Crown in Epcot. Not to mention Biergarten. I just came back two weeks ago and my favorite places to eat were Liberty Tree in Magic Kingdom for dinner and Ohana at the Polynesian for breakfast or dinner... can you tell we do Disney quite a bit?
Have fun and throw far. In that order, too. - o1d_dude

We also got to experience a late dinner at the California Grill on top of the Contemporary Resort this past trip. We just finished our main course in time for the fireworks at the MK which we watched from the rooftop of the Contemporary, then returned inside afterwards for desert. Great evening.

Thanks guys. Good news is we got everything in place. Adding a car so we don't have to deal with the waits at the airport or going from park to hotel.
Bad news is the kilt needs to stay behind. I was asked to leave it home so that we can get away with one carry one.
We went to Disneyland in May and I got got a chance to go back while on a weekend between training. This will be our first trip to Disney World.

Nothing wrong with being a Mousejunkie. We hope to go back again some time when we can spend a week there and do all the parks at a slow pace.

Welcome to Orlando, Jim. I'd like to say it in (kilted) person, but we'll be near Sanibel for the weekend.
Do check out Raglan Road. Word is it was built in Ireland, assembled in Florida. Don't know if that's true but it's quite believable.

If you wear the kilt you won't need to "pack" it.....

I wore me Black UK to Epcot last January. It was a bit cool but I was nice and warm under the UK. No problems. Look for the bagpipe musical group at Canada, they were all kilted and playing rock with the pipes. Enjoy.
