A short hop across the German/ Dutch border
Hi Lads,
The Quaich just arrived safe at my home here in Dortmund/ Germany.
I'm currently packing our caravan for a short trip to the Netherlands, thus no news on its journey before I'm back on 03 Oct. because we do not have internet access on tour. We (my wife Heike, our 6 Westies and me) will take the Quaich to the "Dutch Highlands" - 75 mtrs above sea level!! and we would be pleased to meet other kilties over there (if interested, gimme a PM latest by tommorrow morning for more information. De koffie staat klar en wij hebben ook en wee dram van en goede Single Malt).
Pictures to follow

Re: A short hop across the German/ Dutch border
Hi Lads,
so, I'm back from our short trip with the Quaich and here are some pics to make it happen:

Does this Quaich make fine weather? We started in the rain, had 10 days pure sunshine and left the campside when it started to rain again.
On the second day, the owner of the camp site asked for a photo shooting with his kilted guest. At least, he and all other campers (ok - not so many at the end of the season) gathered at our caravan, so we invited them to share the Quaich with us. They all enjoyed a wee dram of cask strength Whisky and took a look to the logbook. Our guests were impressed by the existance of a world wide group of kilties and we learned that they never saw a man in kilt in real life before - now they will remember this day as we do.
We are going to meet some goods friends for a walk tomorrow - another good oportunity for sharing the Quaich. Pics will follow.

Yes - I frequently wear a flat cap with my kilts - still looking for a military Black Watch khaki tam to replace it

Great pics, the Canadian war cemetery is particularly poignant.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
An unexpected glitch in one of the planned stops of the Quaich and her quest.
She will be continuing her voyage westward and leaving the European continent on her way to the British Isles.
Her first stop will be with Chas in Norfolk. If any other members would like to host or share a dram with the Quaich please contact myself or Chas.
