Leather Police Jacket
Searching for leather jackets I found San Diego Leather and their police jackets - they seemed perfect for kiltwear too. I ordered their G-1 Police jacket, without badgeholder, in brown cowhide, ON SALE! Most pleased with all the features that make it comfy for working police officers also make it comfy for civilian wear. Lots of BIG pockets - really don't need a sporran with it. The two big outside pockets you see, handwarmer pockets behind them, and two big inside pockets. I also ordered a zip out Thinsulate liner - I'm sold on Thinsulate from other jackets. Gives me a longer season of wear.
The jacket still has that new look, but I think it goes well with a kilt. As much as I like it I'm guessing it'll be well broken in soon.

Leatherneck tartan kilt, 13 ounce from Strathmore Mills, hand sewn by Kathy Lare back in 2007. That's my brown Freelander sporran.

Backside shows why its so comfy with the biswing back and underarm gussets for freedom of movement.
I'm most pleased with all the options San Diego Leather offers - many other styles of short jackets too. Probably not a good idea to go to their website and browse - you're liable to wind up buying a jacket. www.leather.com No jones time - they ship right away. And, its made in the U.S.A.

Ahh now not only do you tempt us with wonderful pictures of the natural surroundings you visit while kilted. But, you also have started tempting those of us in need of the add-ons we all find ourselves needing to wear our kilts beyond just the pubs and Burn's nights. A very good looking jacket indeed. I think I will be adding item number 21 or 22 to my list of wishes. Congrats on a wonderful find.

Saw you're original post about the jacket Ron and was wondering when you would show it. I thought it looked good on the vendors site. I now say it looks great in conjunction with the kilt. Good one mate
Just makes me regret even more that they don't take overseas credit cards. I'd have pulled the trigger today.

Did you check and see if they accept Paypal if they won't take an overseas credit card?
That jacket does look good, doesn't it?

Unfortunately from their site " We do accept bank wires and Western Union payments."
In Australia the price would be A$500 - 600 and I have not seen one that has the removable liner as Ron's does. I am mighty tempted

Yes indeed, the fit of that style of jacket is very nicely suited to the kilt. Good score!

Re: Leather Police Jacket
I kinda had a field test for San Diego Leather's Made in USA products. My little brother was a San Diego County Sheriff for 25 years - a motor officer - and San Diego Leather made all the SDSO motor officer jackets. Didn't remember that until I stumbled on their website during the google search. Nice to have the credibility and not worry about getting taken.

Love it! I may have to give them a call. I do have a U.S. bank account with debit/credit card... So if they will take THAT and ship overseas, I'd be set. If not, I got a good few friends who can forward a package for me.

You won't be disappointed. I didn't see the video on how its made (bottom of webpage) until after the jacket arrived. Now I can see where the quality workmanship comes from.
I see that some products are "imported" and some are "Made in USA" Guessing the later are the ones made in their shop.

Re: Leather Police Jacket
I've been thinking for some time of getting another bomber-style jacket for kilted casual wear -- in black, as black "goes with everything" and my previous leather bombers have been brown.
Thanks to this thread, I ultimately decided to go with San Diego Leather and ordered the A-2 style, which has always been my favorite, in black cowhide. Got it this morning, and I have to say I am beyond impressed. Length and fit are perfect, construction is impeccable, the leather is of excellent quality and superbly treated. Seriously built to last, too. . .When I first picked it up I almost thought they'd sent Kevlar body armor by mistake.
I love this jacket, and it's going with me on my martial-arts training trip to Japan right after Thanksgiving. Thanks, Riverkilt!!
