    What is our average size?

So a lot of the time when i look at kilts on Ebay or even in our 'for sale' section on the forums i realize that it seems that i am below what seems to be the 'average' kilt waits size. know i know that i am a fairly slender guy so i'm not all too surprised but ti got me wondering just what our demographic was. weather he had more 'slim jims' or 'men of substance'. and kilt makers please chime in and let us know if you seem to make more larger or smaller kilts, or it is fairly evenly split?

i know this may leave out some smaller people (and children) but i figure most people here are adults, and i dont know many people with a smaller than 26 inch waist. if smaller you could choose the lowest option or choose to not vote.

From what I've seen, I'd say we probably have a higher number number of 'men of substance' than of skinny guys, but obviously I don't know for certain. I'm about 34", personally. At 6'2" (155-160 lbs), I'm pretty thin.

Yes, I get the feeling that the "men of substance" outnumber us smaller fellows (does this make us "men of no substance"?), judging by the number of kilts and jackets that I see on here which would swallow me up like Cthulhu with the munchies. :cthulhusmiley:

(sorry, I've been looking for an excuse to use that new smiley!)

But then again, I think the average size here is going to be representative of the growing average waist size in the Western world. I'd actually be shocked if it didn't.

I'm a 34" waist too. I'm packing about 10-15 more pounds than I should be, though. My ideal waist size for my height and build is more like 32".

I am a 32' and some times drop down to a 30'. but usually stay right at 32' and that's right where i like it, it just depends on how active i get, so in the summer when i am hiking and biking more i usually drop a bit.

Thanks to the wife's excellent curries I'm now a paunchy 36" but due to different cuts in trousers styles, I can still get in to a couple of my old 34" jeans.
I used to have about a dozen trousers and 4 suits that fitted...

Thankfully kilts are somewhat adjustible, so over Xmas I can loosen it out...

I don't even trust the number on trousers. I just measured my waist the other day, and it was 38. My size 36 trousers MUST have a belt to stay up, it's the 34s that fit right. And a belt is almost not enough on the 38s (I'm working loosing weight, and my size tends to fluctuate anyway)

Most American sizing is "vanity sized". Meaning 2 to 3 inches marked smaller than actual. It is not always consistent even within the same retailer or between product lines.

I'd venture that if you bought size 38's of the same trouser brand, you would think you lost 30 plus pounds.

Re: What is our average size?

34-36 here; should be a 32, but I haven't been running and hitting the weights as much as I used to, that'll change very soon! My wife is also a superb cook, and loves doing it!!!

    Cheers,
